Approach & Methods

Clinical Psychological Diagnostics, Counseling & Treatment

In clinical psychological diagnostics, scientific methods are used to comprehensively assess personality structure, emotional well-being, potential psychological impairments, and cognitive functioning. Based on these assessments, findings, reports, and certificates are created, and additional evaluations or appropriate treatment measures may be recommended and initiated.

The goal of clinical psychological treatment (psychological therapy) is to prevent and alleviate mental health disorders, as well as to relieve distressing symptoms. Individuals are supported in better managing their condition. The treatment is specifically tailored to the individual disorder or problem, and includes methods such as "psycho-education" (promoting understanding of the disorder, training in how to manage it), specific training programs, relaxation techniques, and biofeedback.

Clinical psychological counselling provides information and guidance to help find suitable solutions for existing challenges.

Further information on clinical psychology can be found on the website of the Ministry of Social Affairs or under the section Clinical Psychologist.

Conversation plays an important role in psychological work but is only one part of a comprehensive treatment approach.

Before beginning clinical psychological treatment, a thorough diagnostic assessment is conducted, which includes not only exploratory conversations (such as taking medical history) but also structured interviews, psychological tests (e.g., to assess anxiety disorders), and behavioural observations.

In therapy, alongside goal-oriented discussions, various practical approaches are emphasized. These include learning relaxation techniques, breathing exercises, and keeping journals to better understand patterns related to sleep or anxiety.

A particular focus is placed on emotion regulation – the ability to better manage challenging feelings such as stress, anxiety, or anger. Together, we develop strategies that help you remain calm and capable in difficult situations.

Psychological work is therefore an active process, aimed at finding solutions together and taking concrete steps to sustainably improve well-being. Supportive conversations accompany this process, helping to deepen and consolidate therapeutic progress..
